Turbo Forest Public Participation Forum Marks Conculsion of Multi-Agency Expectation Exercise
On March 28, 2026, a joint inspection exercise concluded with a public participation forum following the final site visit to Turbo Forest, marking the culmination of a multi-agency assessment of the proposed degazettement of sections of selected forests.
The State Department for Forestry team was led by Secretary for Forest Development Mr. George Tarus, while Members of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining were led by Turkana Central Constituency MP, Hon. Namuar Joseph Emathe.
The exercise followed earlier deliberations held on March 13, 2026, in Machakos County, where it was agreed that a joint inspection be undertaken to assess the proposed degazettement of identified sections of Turbo Forest, Mount Elgon Forest, and Kakamega Forest.
The public participation forum provided an opportunity for stakeholders and local communities to share their views, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to inclusive decision-making, sustainable forest management, and the protection of critical ecosystems.
