State Department For Forestry Signs MoU With Alliance of Biodiversity International CIAT to Advance Landscape Restoration
On March 26, 2026, the State Department for Forestry formalized a strategic partnership with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing landscape restoration, sustainable land use, and climate-smart livelihoods in Kenya.
The MoU was signed by Forestry Principal Secretary Mr. Gitonga Mugambi and Director General Mr. Juan Lucas Restrepo, marking a significant step in strengthening collaboration on research, innovation, and the implementation of forestry and agroforestry initiatives aligned with national priorities, including the 15 Billion Trees Growing Programme.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior State Department officials, including Secretary for Forest Development Mr. George Tarus, Head of Projects and Strategic Initiatives Mr. Peterson Kamau, and the Ministry’s Principal State Counsel Ms. Fatma Ali, underscoring the Government’s commitment to partnerships that enhance environmental conservation, community resilience, and sustainable development.
