Public Hearing On Forest Bill Enters Day Four In Uasin Gishu and Kilifi Counties
Public participation on the proposed Forest Conservation and Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has entered its fourth day, with stakeholder engagements intensifying in Uasin Gishu and Kilifi counties as the nationwide exercise gains momentum.
In Kilifi County, the coastal team is led by Gertrude Mbeyu, who is overseeing discussions and facilitating public engagement to ensure residents effectively contribute to the legislative process. Meanwhile, deliberations in Uasin Gishu County have brought together wananchi and key stakeholders to share their views on the proposed reforms.
The State Department for Forestry is actively participating in the hearings, with a technical team led by Dr. George Muthike, representing the Forestry Principal Secretary. The team is providing expert input to help align stakeholder views with national forestry priorities.
Legal guidance is also being offered during the sessions by a team from the Ministry, led by Fatma Ali, ensuring that the proposed amendments are clearly understood and that contributions are grounded within the legal framework.
The ongoing public hearings highlight the government’s commitment to inclusive and transparent law-making, giving Kenyans an opportunity to directly shape reforms in the forestry sector.
