Kenya Partners with WRI to Accelerate Landscape Restoration

On 12th February 2026, the #15BillionTrees Secretariat, led by Coordinator Ms. Susan Boit, held a strategic meeting with representatives of the World Resources Institute (WRI) in Nairobi to strengthen collaboration on landscape restoration.
WRI reported that it has planted 5.7 million trees through 50 restoration projects nationwide, creating over 10,000 green jobs in support of the national target of growing 15 billion trees by 2032.
The engagement highlighted the importance of partnerships that integrate environmental restoration with livelihoods, skills development, and community participation to advance climate resilience.
The meeting was attended by Secretariat members, including Ms. Florence Mwachoki, Mr. Ekal Ekutan, and Mr. Bernard Kirui.
