Forestry PS, Parliamentary Committee Undertake Joint Inspection of Key Forest Ecosystems
On March 27, 2026, Forestry Principal Secretary Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, alongside Members of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining led by Baringo South MP Hon. Charles Kamuren, paid a courtesy call to Vihiga County Deputy Governor H.E. Wilberforce Kitiezo at his office.
The Principal Secretary, accompanied by senior officials from the State Department for Forestry led by Secretary for Forest Development Mr. George Tarus, proceeded with the Committee to inspect key forest ecosystems, including Turbo Forest, Mount Elgon Forest, and Kakamega Forest.
The joint inspection followed earlier deliberations held on March 13, 2026, in Machakos County, where it was agreed that a site visit be undertaken to assess the proposed degazettement of identified sections of the three forests.
