FORESTRY PS MR. GITONGA MUGAMBI CHAIRS FY2025\2026 AUDIT REVIEW MEETING FOR THE STATE DEPARTMENT FOR FORESTRY.
Forestry Principal Secretary Mr. Gitonga Mugambi chaired an audit meeting for the State Department for Forestry (SDF) for the Financial Year 2025/2026 with a team from the Office of the Auditor General led by the Head of External Audit, Mr. Patrick Kibee.
The meeting formed part of the constitutional audit process aimed at evaluating financial accountability, compliance with public sector regulations, and the effectiveness of internal control systems within the department.
The session provided an opportunity for discussions on audit observations, review of financial and administrative processes, and consideration of recommendations intended to strengthen institutional governance, accountability, and operational efficiency.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Mugambi reaffirmed the State Department’s commitment to prudent financial management, transparency, and adherence to established regulatory and governance frameworks. He noted that sound financial practices and robust accountability mechanisms are essential for effective public service delivery and the achievement of the department’s mandate.
The Principal Secretary emphasized the importance of strong oversight systems in supporting efficient management of public resources, sustainable forest conservation efforts, and the implementation of national environmental and climate change priorities.
He further highlighted the role of regular audits in promoting continuous improvement, strengthening institutional performance, and ensuring that public resources are utilized effectively and in accordance with the law.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the State Department for Forestry and the Office of the Auditor General to review progress and identify opportunities for enhancing governance and operational effectiveness.
Also present were Secretary for Forest Development Mr. George Tarus, Secretary Administration Mr. Patrick Meso, and Heads of Departments from the State Department for Forestry.
