Forestry PS Joins National Rollout of Digital Class Initiative in Meru

Forestry Principal Secretary Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, accompanied by Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Ms. Roseline Njogu, participated in the national rollout of the National Digital Class Experience at Meru Junior School in Meru County.

The rollout follows the launch of the initiative by His Excellency President Dr. William Samoei Ruto on 14 October 2026 at Kiminini Junior Secondary School in Trans Nzoia County. The programme reflects the Government’s commitment to integrating digital technology into teaching and learning across the country.

Implemented under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), with financing from the World Bank, the initiative aims to expand access to inclusive, technology-enabled education across all 47 counties.

To date, the Government has equipped 10,382 public junior schools with interactive smart boards and laptops and trained more than 64,000 teachers in digital learning. The programme targets approximately 21,000 public junior schools by April 2027.

The initiative is expected to strengthen digital literacy, improve classroom learning experiences and equip learners with relevant skills to thrive in an increasingly technology driven economy.
