Anglican Church Engages Ministry on Environmental Stewardship and Food Security During Annual Walk
On March 29, 2026, the Anglican Church of Kenya strengthened its engagement with the Government on environmental stewardship and sustainable food production during the Archbishop’s Annual Walk held on Palm Sunday.
As part of the walk, the Archbishop and members of the All Saints’ Cathedral Diocese made a stop at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, where they were received by Secretary Administration Mr. Patrick Meso on behalf of Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah M. Barasa.
The visit provided an opportunity for prayer and reflection, as well as engagement on shared national priorities around environmental conservation, climate action, and food security.
This year’s walk, held under the theme drawn from Psalm 104:14 “God makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth” highlighted the link between environmental stewardship and sustainable livelihoods.
The Church emphasized the need for responsible management of natural resources, particularly in the context of recurring droughts affecting many parts of the country, especially arid and semi-arid areas. These challenges continue to impact food security and place pressure on national systems.
Mr. Meso, on behalf of the Ministry, acknowledged the role of faith-based institutions in shaping values around environmental stewardship and community resilience. He noted that such engagements complement government efforts by promoting awareness, responsibility, and collective action at the community level.
